Becoming an au pair is an incredible way to experience life in a new country while learning about different cultures and languages. But I know how overwhelming the au pair process and that first interview with a host family can be! It’s easy to forget all the important questions you want to ask.

When you’re speaking a new language and talking to a new family, it can be difficult to remember everything, like asking about the family’s routine, the kids’ schedules, household rules, or even what you should bring with you. You can get stuck with so many thoughts.

That’s why it’s important to keep the conversation natural and take your time getting to know your host family. Be yourself, start with the most important questions, and follow up with any extra ones if needed.

These are some common questions you might be asked during the interview process. To make things easier, here’s a list of helpful questions to ask Au Pair in the Interview to guide you through your first chat with the family.
